WarHorses for Heroes is looking for fundraising volunteers to help us find and develop corporate relationships and sponsorships. This internship will develop your networking and sales skills while you gain experience with the unique challenges of a nonprofit organization. As an intern, you will collaborate with our fundraising and administrative teams. You will be expected check in regularly with leaders and team members. Your contribution will help generate much needed revenue to cover the costs associated with providing equine therapy to veterans.
WarHorses for Heroes is dedicated to the rehabilitation of our ill and injured veterans through equine therapy. Our mission is to provide hands-on support through our veteran-led equestrian program to our active and retired military members who have sustained service-related mental and physical injuries.
Our veterans have given so much to this country, and they deserve our support when they are
in need. The transition from military to civilian life is challenging for many veterans, and the
high rates of physical disability, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), and depression in our
veteran population further burdens their progress. In fact, it has been reported that an average of 1 in 4 veterans show signs of mental illness, and as many as 20 veterans a day commit suicide. WarHorses for Heroes is battling these bleak statistics by partnering our veterans with the healing power of horses.
Responsibilities:
This is a 6 month assignment, with an expectation of approximately 15 hours per week of work
Reach out to local businesses over the phone, email and in person
Maintain positive relationships with businesses interested in sponsoring
Help maintain database records of business connections
Salesmanship skills, the ability to describe the needs and benefits of our project to interested donors
Skills/Expectations:
Current enrollment in, or completion of a related BS or Masters degree
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to learn quickly
Passion for our cause

Accessible over email
Experience with at least 2 of the following software platforms: Mail Chimp, Asana, Google Apps, Microsoft Office
