What We Do

TN Dept of Correction has several beneficial programs currently in place to aid and assist offenders. One in particular would be the Community Service Work Program, which is currently being supervised in Shelby County. The purpose of the Community Service Work program is to promote public safety and restorative justice through closely monitored community service work. CSW is Court, TDOC, Board of Parole ordered work, which places offenders on supervision in unpaid, uncompensated positions with non-profit or tax supported agencies to perform a specific number of hours of work or service within a specific time frame. TDOC is authorized to assign probationers and parolees with community service work obligations to qualified agencies and to use community service work as an intermediate sanction. As a CSW Coordinator, it is my duty to perform due diligence in ensuring that the CSW providers are professional, ethical and accountable in partnering with TDOC.
