We defend children from sexual and other severe abuse by headquartering a coordinated team response to reported abuse, providing services shown to help children heal from trauma, and training parents, volunteers, and organizations how to keep kids safe.

The Memphis Child Advocacy Center supports safety for children through informed prevention, community collaboration, and a team approach to healing and justice for victims of child sexual and severe physical abuse. At the CAC, prosecutors, law enforcement officers, case workers, investigators, therapists and educators all work together toward a common goal: justice, safety and healing for children. At the Memphis Child Advocacy Center, we help victims become children again.

Memphis Child Advocacy Center provides in house forensic interviews for children who are victims of sexual and other severe abuse, or witnesses to violent crime, comprehensive victim advocacy for families, trauma focused therapy, child sexual abuse prevention training, and team services for the Shelby County Child Protection Investigation Team.

To serve children who are victims of sexual and severe physical abuse through prevention, education and intervention. Helping victims become children again. The CAC's Child Sexual Abuse Prevention program features Stewards of Children training, as well as child protection policy workshops. Stewards of Children equips parents and adults who work with youth to prevent, recognize and react responsibly to child sexual abuse. Stewards of Children was developed by Darkness to Light, and is a powerful and highly effective training. The training includes compelling video, workbook activity and CAC facilitator-led discussion. Analysis of our pre/post tests and 6 month follow-up surveys is consistent with national research: Stewards of Children training effectively increases adult protective actions on behalf of youth. We also help organizations create or strengthen their child protection policies through policy workshops and individual consultation. Good policy goes beyond background checks; it addresses adult/child interaction, staff/volunteer training requirements, and appropriate response to suspected abuse.
