YWCA Greater Memphis’ mission: “Eliminating racism and empowering women.” And we accomplish that in many ways, one way is through our 16-unit, state-of-the-art facility providing a safe-haven for women and children who are victims of domestic violence.
The YWCA Greater Memphis is also dedicated to promoting peace, justice, freedom and dignity for all. The YWCA of Greater Memphis has combined its Immigrant Women's Services with our domestic violence services. We are dedicated to helping to end the fear, isolation and suffering battered immigrant women face and to increase their knowledge of healthy relationships, the dynamics of domestic violence, services available and victims’ rights. Bilingual services are available.
In addition, YWCA also provides free GED assistance and certification job training for the public. Currently skilled trade courses are offered for warehouse and forklift. Other work courses include customer service training, computer literacy and CPR training.
YWCA has also partnered with selected schools to provide child care for school-aged children. Those services include before and after school care, camps during the school breaks and summer day camp. The program provides trained YWCA counselors, homework assistance, age appropriate activities and provided snacks.
