What We Do

To improve the quality and accessibility of healthcare by providing support services to health professionals and the promotion of health and educational interventions for the communities we serve. Project “CHAT” (Community Health Action Team) of Fayette County's goal is to reduce breast cancer mortality among African-American, Hispanic, uninsured and economically disadvantaged women in Fayette and Shelby counties in West Tennessee. The goal will be accomplished by implementing:1) Education & Training to Community Health Workers and consumers; 2) Collaboration with clinics/hospitals, CBO's and the community; 3) Mammography Screenings; 4) Support Services. Continuing Education to 15 CHW's. Education about healthy lifestyles and early detection for 500 females aged 18+ and 100 females aged 14-18. Baptist Mobile Mammography Unit will provide mammography screenings to 100 women age 35-64. The final component offers diagnostic referrals to women with abnormal screenings and support to families. Process and outcome data will reflect 100% participation rate for program components, resulting in behavioral health changes and a reduction in breast cancer mortality for underserved women.
