Improve well being and promote independence throughout life's stages with quality and compassion. SCSEP serves persons with low incomes who are 55 years old or over and have poor employment prospects. It purposes is to provide useful community services and to foster individual economic self-sufficiency through training and job placement. Services provided include: up to 20 hours a week of paid part-time job training in a community service assignment, related educational opportunities, and opportunities for unsubsidized job placement. Participants help host sites extend their reach and capabilities while developing job skills, self-confidence, and a restored sense of self-worth. Host Agencies help position participants for entry or re-entry into the workforce. The demographic shift in the population and the workforce over the next 10 years will have a significant impact on employers. As the population ages, we will become more dependent on workers over 55 to sustain growth in the labor force. Many of these individuals will need assistance entering and reentering the workforce.
