What We Do
Healing Hearts Child Advocacy Center's mission is to respond to child abuse with a supportive team approach that reduces trauma through advocacy, treatment, education, and prevention. Healing Hearts Child Advocacy Center (CAC) provides comprehensive services to victims of child abuse, child witnesses to a violent crime, non-offending caregivers and the DeSoto and Tate County communities. Healing Hearts CAC responds to the emotional and physical needs of crime victims and assist primary and secondary victims of crime to stabilize their lives after victimization by providing the necessary services and resources in a central location where they can begin to heal. Healing Hearts CAC provides a forensic interviewing program, victim advocacy program, mental health therapy program, facility dog program, community awareness and an education/prevention program, collaboration of the multi-disciplinary team (MDT) and Tyler’s Closet. The goal of Healing Hearts CAC is to provide a child friendly environment where child victims of abuse can tell about their traumatic experience and receive the services and resources needed to heal. Providing these services assist children in dealing with their trauma so they can move from victim to survivor. Forensic interviews reduces trauma by allowing children to only tell of their traumatic experience one time. Victim advocacy provides ongoing support and mental health therapy provides healing from long term consequences. The MDT collaboration builds stronger cases; therefore making our community safer. Community education protects more children from harm and builds a more informed safer community.
