The CDC has responded to trying housing and financial conditions in Frayser with programs that include: • Sale of homes- renovated • Rental and lease/purchasing of homes • Home buyer education classes • Foreclosure counseling • Credit fitness classes and counseling • Rental and Lease/Purchase Counseling • Fund and program development- attraction of new funds and services for the Frayser community • Advocacy- for policies and programs to assist in community redevelopment

Frayser CDC’s mission is to work with the community to provide improved housing and stimulate commercial and economic growth. This Program covers a range of counseling conducted by Frayser CDC, targeted at but not exclusively for, Frayser residents. Services include: • Foreclosure Counseling- this consists of various services from originating loans to assisting residents in paying housing costs during periods of employment loss, to negotiating loan modifications for residents who cannot keep up with mortgage payments. • Home Buyer Education and Counseling- classes are 8 hour, HUD certified. These sessions help prepare attendees to be mortgage and home ownership ready. Classes are followed by one-on-one assistance as appropriate. These classes allow residents to take advantage of Frayser’s low-cost housing. • Financial Literacy Counseling- this is a more general approach to helping residents understand household financial and credit. This training assists residents in avoiding predatory lenders, such as title and payday lenders. This can be a precursor to Home Buyer Education. • Rental, Lease/Purchase and Ownership Counseling- CDC staff meets monthly with residents to assist renters in becoming lease/purchasers, and lease/purchasers in becoming buyers.
