Who We Are
A comprehensive youth development program, emphasizing personal growth, self-confidence, and service to others preparing young people to make ethical decisions over their lifetime.
What We Do
The mission of the Boy Scouts of America, Chickasaw Council is to prepare young people to make ethical and moral choices over their lifetime by instilling in them the values of the Scout Oath & Law. The Chickasaw Council wants to deliver a quality traditional Scouting program focused on advancement and training to every youth, who wants to participate in Shelby County, Tennessee, Crittenden County Arkansas, and fifteen counties in Northwest Mississippi. Scouting includes the STEM program, outdoor activities, including camping, hiking, and swimming, and citizenship training. All of these activities and more help Scouts advance through the ranks and receive recognition for their accomplishments. All of these programs and services are delivered by volunteer leaders which serve as leaders, advisers, and mentors to the youth in the Scouting programs. According to a Tufts University study, Scouting builds positive character and provides young people a foundation them can stand on and embrace opportunity, overcome obstacles, and make new discoveries. A Baylor University study shows that compared to men who were never in Scouting, Eagle Scouts exercise more self-discipline to plan ahead and set and achieve goals, they gain a greater connection and concern for their community, exhibit a higher sense of responsibility to give back through volunteering and donating, and hold higher self-expectations.
