

Who We Are
The Adult Basic Education (ABE) Council promotes literacy awareness in Lauderdale and Tipton Counties. It seeks to educate and empower adult learners through literacy initiatives and serves a wide range of adults from those who can't read, to those needing to pass entrance exams to enter post secondary institutions. It is a literacy leader providing free academic instruction and assistance to improve basic skills, GED®/HiSet classes for learners to obtain their High School Equivalency Diploma.
What We Do
The Adult Education Council mission is to provide assistance and guidance to the AE Program, to promote literacy awareness, and educational opportunities for the citizens of Lauderdale and Tipton. The Adult Education Program is a free provider of literacy services including the teaching of academics: basic skills, GED® / Hiset preparation and refresher classes. The program offers instruction and assistance to adult learners resulting in the mastery of literacy skills, capable of enhancing the economic success of the client and that of Lauderdale County. Classes are set up through out the county to meet the needs of the targeted population. The program has day and evening classes and provides all the necessary resources that the clients need to be successful. Classes run all year round and all students complete an orientation before entering.
