Elmwood Cemetery

Elmwood Cemetery was founded in 1852 by 50 local businessmen who believed that the citizens of Memphis deserved a beautiful, shaded, and serene final resting place. People from all walks of life rest within the cemetery, and their stories are as diverse and rich as the city of Memphis. Almost 80,000 individuals are remembered with impressive, museum-quality statuary, and during history-based learning events.
