

Who We Are
Located at 333 Beale Street, in Dr. Ernest C. Withers’ last working studio the Withers Collection Museum and Gallery houses 7,000 square feet of Memphis history. In February 2011, the Withers Collection opened its doors to the public, inviting everyone to see a glimpse of Dr. Ernest C. Withers had accomplished as a photojournalist. Dr. Withers' archive holds 1.8 million images. Images on display range from key Civil Rights Movement events to legendary blues and jazz performers. Martin Luther King, Jr., B.B. King, “The King of Rock and Roll,” and “The Queen of Soul,” can all be seen, captured in their elements, in beautiful black and white photographs. If you love music, history, and Memphis, a visit to The Withers Collection is a must!
What We Do
The Withers Collection houses the works of Dr. Ernest C. Withers. The organization strives to uphold its' mission to preserve the historic works of Dr. Withers while educating the public of this history. Through the preservation of this work the Withers Collection can increase access to important American history both of famous figures and unique records of otherwise under-documented history.
