This application represents a multi-institutional, multidisciplinary collaborative effort to address the effects of traumatic events experiences on the health and development of children and youth community capacity building. Our proposal, which combines the knowledge and expertise of faculty and service providers at the University of Memphis, University of Tennessee Health Sciences and Le Bonheur Children's Hospital, has four primary goals: 1) assess the capacity of community agencies to respond to and support children and families affected by trauma, 2) provide technical assistance, training and resources to help agencies provide trauma-informed care and services; 3) assist agencies and organizations in developing policies and practices best suited to meet the needs of affected children and families; and 4) develop a community-wide evaluation model to track progress in the provision of trauma-informed practices and policies.
