Who We Are

For 20 years, we have been an agent of change for Latino Memphians, empowering individuals, families and communities throughout the Bluff City. Over these two decades, Latino Memphis has become the go-to organization for issues impacting the Hispanic community in the Mid-South, raising the voice of Latinos in our region and advocating for a stronger, more inclusive Memphis.

What We Do

We assist Latinos in the Greater Memphis area by connecting, collaborating and advocating for health, education and justice. Latino Memphis' Information Resource Center, El Centro, links Spanish-speaking individuals with non-profit and government organizations and provides information, referrals and solutions in the areas of health, education and justice. Whether it’s finding a healthcare plan, learning how to speak English, searching for a job, or enrolling in school, the staff in El Centro find solutions for thousands of Latino Memphians every year. In addition, staff members advocate for clients with governmental, non-governmental and private organizations to increase the range of services available both in the short-term and long-term. El Centro has built partnerships with over 50 agencies and hosts a number of community partners every week, including the Memphis Police Department and Shelby County Sheriff’s Offices, who take safe-haven referrals for victims of crime, free HIV testing with Planned Parenthood, health care applications through Seedco, and other agencies looking to reach the Latino community. We build and strengthen collaboratives and partnerships that ensure Latinos have access to health, education and justice. As part of this collaboration, we also work with institutions to develop their services to provide better access to opportunities for the Latino community.
