Who We Are

The DeSoto County Literacy Council was established in 1992. The Council serves adult literacy needs of DeSoto and surrounding counties. DCLC provides tutoring for adult students to improve basic reading, math, writing, and language skills. The Council provides basic computer training. Preparatory class for the GED are also among the primary services offered. Instruction in all areas is achieved through peer, group, and one-on-one tutoring, as well as computer-based instructional programs.

What We Do

The DeSoto County Literacy Council seeks to serve as a unifying force and a source of information about literacy programs and services in DeSoto County. The Desoto County Literacy Council was established in 1992. The Council serves adult literacy needs of Desoto and surrounding counties. DCLC provides tutoring for adult students (17 and over) to improve basic reading, math, writing, and language skills. The Council provides training in basic computers, employability, ACT prep and ASVAB prep. Preparatory class for the General Education Development (GED) diploma are also among the primary services offered. Instruction in all areas is achieved through peer, group, and one-on-one tutoring, as well as computer-based instructional programs.
